Did you know that many victims of violence and abuse—even years after the abuse ends—are still suffering from severe health consequences of that abuse? These consequences include many common, sometimes severe, health conditions, such as chronic pain, headaches, stomach and cardiac problems, anxiety or depression, and gynecological disorders. These conditions can be so devastating that many victims are disabled and no longer able to work fulltime.

The Health After Trauma Project of Creekside Communications is under the direction of Ellen Taliaferro, MD. The mission of the Health After Trauma Project is to address the long-term medical consequences of trauma and abuse. This mission is supported by the following goals:

Build a community of survivors, their supporters, and the professionals who work with them.

Promote education regarding the medical effects of trauma and abuse through books, an online journal, and training directed to survivors, the medical and mental health community, the legal and law enforcement community, and advocates.
